Ashwood

Ashwood Football Club was formed in late 1984 by means of a merger between Burwood and Essex Heights. The Magpies have twice enjoyed senior grade premiership success in Division Two of the Southern Football League, downing Balwyn by 56 points in the 1996 grand final, and Lyndale in the decisive match of the 2001 season by 46 points.

Recent seasons have seen Ashwood competing in Division Three. They qualified for the finals in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. The 2016 season saw them reach the grand final only to lose by 67 points to Mount Waverley. A year later they again reached the finals but underperformed badly to end up a somewhat disappointing fourth, a result that was repeated in both 2018 and 2019.
