Ashwood

Ashwood Football Club was formed during the 1980s by means of a merger between Burwood and Essex Heights. The Magpies have twice enjoyed senior grade premiership success in division two of the Southern Football League, downing Balwyn by 56 points in the 1996 grand final, and Lyndale in the decisive match of the 2001 season by 46 points. They were moderately successful in 2008, winning half of their 18 home and away matches for the year to finish in fifth place on the ten team premiership ladder.
