ANU spent its first couple of seasons competing in the Australian Capital Territory Football League’s B Grade competition. After winning the 1962 premiership at this level the club was promoted to A Grade, where it spent the next seventeen seasons, qualifying for the finals on eight occasions, but never making it as far as the grand final. Since leaving the ACTAFL at the end of the 1979 the Griffins have enjoyed regular premiership success in Canberra football’s lower grades, including a hat-trick in 1980-81-82. The club currently fields teams in AFL Canberra’s division three and division four competitions.
