Having previously competed in the Dampier Football Association, Beacon was a founder member in 1968 of the Central Wheatbelt Football League. Its haul of thirteen senior grade flags is by some measure a competition record, but it has not all been plain sailing, and indeed between 1969 and 1975 the club underwent an enforced period of recess. Since resuming in 1976, however, it has been an almost perennial pace setter, with the undoubted highlight of its existence to date being its feat in claiming no fewer than seven premierships in succession between 1991 and 1997. Since the turn of the century performances have been less noteworthy and the club’s last four grand final appearances - in 2001 and 2002 against Bencubbin, 2003 at the hands of Kalannie, and 2008 against Koorda - all ended in defeat.
