Chirnside Park

Chirnside Park’s senior grade team commenced in 1991 as a member of the Victorian Amateur Football Association’s G North division. Prior to that the club had fielded sides in various junior age groups since 1978. For the 2000 season the Panthers transferred their allegiance to the Eastern Football League and spent the ensuing ten seasons competing in Division Four. The 2008 season saw them come agonisingly close to promotion to Division Three but they lost the grand final to Heathmont by three points. A year later they made amends when they lost only 2 matches all season en route to a 64 point grand final triumph over Kilsyth. Promoted to Division Three as a consequence the Panthers went on to consolidate for a time at that level albeit without quite managing to contest a finals series. For instance, they finished sixth in 2016 and eighth a year later. Their 2018 campaign, however, was little short of disastrous as they lost all 18 matches contested to collect both the wooden spoon, a result that was precisely duplicated a year later.
