Combined Services was a founder member in 1978 of the Northern Territory Football League’s C Grade competition, which later became the Northern Territory Football Association, and later still the Top End Australian Football Association. The club was particularly strong during the competition’s formative years as it contested three of the first four grand finals. In 1978/9 it overcame North Darwin, while two years later it triumphed at the expense of Banks. The 1981/2 grand final, once again against Banks, ended in defeat, and Combined Services has not contested a senior grade grand final since.
