Cootamundra joined the Central Riverina Football League in 1960 and over the ensuing couple of decades achieved a fair amount of success, contesting seven senior grade grand finals, four of which were won. In 1982 the club crossed to the Riverina District Football League which three years later was renamed the Farrer Football League. The Blues qualified for senior grade grand finals in this competition every year between 1986 and 1990 but only in 1989, against South Wagga Tolland Dons, were they successful. They subsequently added a second flag in 1992 at the expense of RAAF.
Since 2004 Cootamundra has competed in AFL Canberra’s division two competition.
