Fitzroy Stars

In 2008, after fourteen years in recess, the Stars began competing in Division Two of the Northern Football League. Originally formed in 1970, the Stars were and remain an all indigenous club. The side competed at various times in the Metropolitan Football League, the Melbourne North Football League, and the National YCW Football League, claiming a total of half a dozen senior grade premierships. Many Stars players have represented Victoria at the National Aboriginal Football Carnival.

The club has also competed regularly at the Victorian Aboriginal Youth Sport and Recreation Statewide Football Carnival, winning more titles over the past twenty-five years than any other team.

The Stars have competed in the NFL's Division Two for the past ten seasons and contested the finals every year since 2012. In 2013 and 2014 they qualified for consecutive grand finals but lost on both occasions, to Whittlesea by 19 points in the former year, and North Heidelberg by 36 points in the latter. Since then they have finished fourth three seasons in succession (2015-16-17) followed by a slump to second from last place in 2018.
