Geelong Association

Geelong Association replaced Essendon Association in the VFA in 1922 but never enjoyed the success of its predecessor, finishing bottom in 3 of its 6 seasons and managing an overall success rate of just 13.5%. The club’s best seasons were 1924 and 1926 when it finished eighth (of ten), each time with a 4-14 record.

Arguably Geelong Association’s most outstanding player was Mick Elston who ran second to Northcote’s Tommy Downs in the voting for the 1925 Recorder Cup. Considering his team finished bottom of the list with just 1 win from 14 matches it was a remarkable effort.
