Glenroy

Glenroy has been a highly respected and successful member of the Essendon District Football League since 1946. The club won a senior B Grade flag in its fourth season, and has added at least one senior premiership in every decade since, with the 1980s proving particularly profitable.

Recent seasons have seen Glenroy competing in B Grade. In 2006, the side won 11 of its 17 matches to finish sixth, while in 2007 it reached the finals, ultimately finishing fifth. The reserves did rather better in 2007, getting as far as the grand final where they lost to Maribrynong Park. In 2008 the seniors finally broke through for a long overdue flag, downing Tullamarine in the B Grade grand final by 32 points, 11.14 (80) to 6.12 (48).

The Wallabies' next grand final appearance came in 2013 in Division One (formerly known as B Grade) but this resulted in  a loss to Northern Saints by 14 points. Since then Glenroy have continued to compete in Division One, finishing fifth in 2014, sixth in 2015 and sixth again in 2016, before securing their eleventh senior grade flag in 2017 courtesy of a 15.5 (95) to 12.10 (82) grand final defeat of Airport West. Earlier, the Wallabies had topped the premiership ladder ahead of the finals before sweeping straight into the grand final on the strength of a crushing 21.17 (143) to 6.12 (48) second semi final defeat of Hillside. Promoted to Premier Division as a consequence of this success they performed solidly in 2018 to finish in eighth place on the 10 team premiership ladder, a feat they duplicated a year later.
