Kingscote

Having previously engaged mainly in challenge matches Kingscote was a founder member in 1946 of the Kangaroo Island Football League and quickly imposed itself on the competition by winning the first three premierships. The Hounds were a major force in the competition for three decades but after beating Wisanger in the 1975 grand final the club entered a slump which lasted seventeen years. It was finally brought to an end in 1992 when Kingscote overcame the grand final challenge of Western Districts by a 7 point margin, 16.9 (105) to 15.8 (98). Since 1992 the Hounds have contested another four senior grade grand finals, but only in 2002 at the expense of Wisanger were they successful.
