Lalor

With ten senior grade premierships to its credit Lalor can boast a commendable record of success. The senior arm of the club commenced in 1964, and it spent its first four seasons competing in the Panton Hill Football League, reaching the finals for the first time in 1965 before claiming back to back premierships in 1966 and 1967. The 1968 season saw the Bloods on the move to the Diamond Valley Football League, precursor of the Northern Football League in which the club nowadays competes.

The DVFL was a somewhat stronger competition than the PHFL and it took Lalor more than a decade to make its mark. The senior grade side enjoyed its first premiership success in the DVFL in 1980, which was the last season that the competition contained just a single division. The Bloods were a competitive force in Division One for the remainder of the 1980s, but a losing grand final against Greensborough in 1989 was the closest they came to procuring another flag.

The 1990s saw Lalor stamp itself as the DVFL’s pre-eminent club with senior grade Division One grand final triumphs in 1991-2-3 and 1998. The Bloods have so far also won three Division Two flags, with the third of these in 2007 coming in the Northern Football League, which replaced the DVFL that year. As a result of their 2007 Division Two grand final triumph the Bloods were promoted to Division One where they spent the next three seasons. At the end of the 2010 season, however, they were relegated back to Division Two where they have competed since.  The closest they have come to adding to their senior grade premiership haul was in 2015 when they reached the Division Two grand final only to lose by 3 points to Whittlesea. Subsequent seasons have seen them finish well off the pace.
