Mooroolbark

Mooroolbark’s 2009 senior grade flag in Division Three of the Eastern Football League was the club’s second such triumph. Originally known as the Falcons, but since 2001 as the Mustangs, Mooroolbark has, to date, contested a total of eight senior grade grand finals, four each in both Division Two and Division Three. The 2009 season was perhaps the most outstanding in the club’s history as the seniors qualified for the finals in pole position with a 17-1 record before scoring comfortable wins over Upper Ferntree Gully in both the second semi final (by 33 points) and grand final (by 55 points). Meanwhile the reserves also claimed a flag with a 3 goal grand final defeat of Boronia. The Mustangs have managed to retain their place in Division Two since, and in 2013 they got as far as the grand final only to lose by 28 points to Montrose. In 2016 the Mustangs were second after the home and away rounds but then crashed out of the flag race with "straight sets" finals losses to Bayswater and Wantirna South. The 2017 season saw them get as far as the preliminary final in which they lost to Doncaster East by 57 points. In stark contrast, a year later they plummeted down the list to eighth.
