Mulwala

Since entering the Murray Football League in 1987 Mulwala’s senior grade team has contested four grand finals. In 1990 the Lions saw off a stern challenge from Tocumwal to claim their only MuFL flag to date. Final scores were Mulwala 12.18 (90) defeated Tocumwal 11.13 (79). The Lions’ second grand final appearance came in 2002 but they were no match for Deniliquin, going down by 45 points. They again qualified for the grand final in 2010 but sustained an 84 point hiding at the hands of Moama. Their fourth and most recent grand final appearance came in 2013 but once again the Lions were second best, this time versus Echuca United.

The last four seasons have seen the Lions performing quite strongly on the whole to finish fifth in 2014, third in 2015, seventh in 2016, fifth in 2017 and seventh in 2018.
