Newdegate

The Lions joined the Ongerup Football Association in 1983 and claimed their first flag in only their third season. Thereafter, for a period of half a dozen seasons, they vied with Jerramungup as the competition’s leading club, adding further premierships in 1988, 1989 and 1991. Recent times have been leaner, however, and the senior grade team’s only grand final appearances since the turn of the century in 2005 and 2006 both ended in defeat at the hands of Boxwood Hills. In 2009 the Lions got as far as the preliminary final before losing heavily to Gnowangerup.
