Nullawil

Nullawil Football Club, which dates back at least a hundred years, boasts the outstanding record over that time of having won at least twenty-three senior grade premierships. There may indeed have been more, but records of the club’s early years, both pre- and post-world war one, are thin on the ground.

Since 1998 the Maroons have competed in the Golden Rivers Football League. They won a flag at the first time of asking, were runners-up to Murrabit in 1999, and then claimed two more premierships in 2000 and 2001. After that there occurred a prolonged premiership drought which was not broken until 2012 when Wandella were downed on grand final day by precisely 4 goals. Scores were Nullawil 12.10 (82) defeated Wandella 8.10 (58). Two years later the Maroons again qualified for the grand final only to lose by 16 points to Ultima. Following that they finished fourth of nine in 2015, third of eight in 2016, and third of nine in 2017 before breaking through to procure their fifth senior grade GRFL flag in 2018. After dominating the home and away rounds during which they sustained just 1 loss in 16 matches they scored a hard earned 4 point win over Ultima in the second semi final to progress straight to the grand final. Opposed by Ultima once more the Maroons enjoyed a much more comfortable time than a fortnight earlier in cruising to victory by 42 points, 12.16 (88) to 6.10 (46).
