Pascoe Vale

A Pascoe Vale Football Club was known to have existed in 1918, and it is possible that the club’s origins were even earlier. Prior to joining the Essendon District Football League in 1952 the club participated in several different competitions, including the Victorian Amateur Football Association, which it joined in 1927, and from which it was expelled owing to the persistently unruly behaviour of its supporters two years later.

On obtaining admission to the VAFA, the club assumed the name of Raeburn, but twelve months later it reverted to Pascoe Vale. Its first senior EDFL premiership was won in 1964, in C Grade. Its second senior flag came in B Grade twenty-four years later.

With in the region of 400 playing members (not including AusKick) Pascoe Vale provides the local community with an important social and recreational outlet.

In 2006, the club enjoyed a good all round season, highlighted by the seniors and reserves both qualifying for the B Grade finals. A year later the seniors got as far as the preliminary final, before disappointing in 2008 by dropping to ninth. The 2009 season brought substantial improvement with the seniors ultimately making it through to the B Grade grand final and despite sustaining a heavy loss at the hands of Oak Park, overall indications would seem to have been that the club was moving in the right direction. Two years later this impression was intensified when the Panthers won their second B Grade flag. Since then, they have competed in Premier Division, qualifying for the finals in both 2015 and 2016 for consecutive fourth place finishes before dropping down the ten team premiership ladder to sixth place in 2017. The 2018 season proved to be enormously disappointing as the Panthers fell short of finals qualification by a single win.
