Robinvale

Robinvale was a consistent force in the Sunraysia Football League for over half a century. The Eagles first reached the senior grade grand final in 1965 when they emerged victorious by 9 points against Red Cliffs. This proved to be the first of three straight grand final appearances for the men in red and white, who went down to Irymple in 1966 before reversing the result the following year.

The 1970s proved to be Robinvale’s most productive decade, spawning a total of five senior grade grand final appearances. In both 1972 and 1974 against Wentworth District and 1979 at the expense of Imperials the Eagles proved successful.

After the club’s 1979 premiership there followed a decade of comparative under-achievement which was ultimately brought to an end with a tensely fought 10.9 (69) to 8.14 (62) defeat of Imperials in the 1989 grand final. The 1990s developed into another productive decade with grand final showings in 1991, 1997 and 1999, the first two of which resulted in wins. After the turn of the century Robinvale played off for the senior grade flag on half a dozen occasions but only triumphed once, in 2010 at the expense of Irymple.   

With playing stocks dwindling alarmingly Robinvale entered into a merger arrangement with close neighbours Euston prior to the start of the 2015 season. The new club, known as Robinvale Euston, competes in the Sunraysia Football League.
