Roxburgh Park

Roxburgh Park Football Club’s senior team was formed in 2005, and admitted to the Essendon District Football League’s B Grade competition the same year. It managed to win 6 of its 17 fixtures in its debut season to finish eleventh (of twelve). When the EDFL added a third tier, Division Two, in 2012 Roxburgh Park - the Magpies - were founder members. They have performed consistently well in this competition but it would take some time for them to come of age by claiming the premiership. In both 2014 and 2016 they were losing grand finalists, going down on both occasions to East Keilor. After that, their form in 2017 was disappointing as their yield of 7 wins from 18 matches was only good enough for sixth place on the eight team premiership ladder. A year later they finally made the seminal breakthrough to premiership honours via hard fought victory over East Sunbury. The last quarter was a traditional arm wrestle, with only one goal scored, by Roxburgh Park, which was enough to see them home by that precise margin, 6.11 (47) to 5.11 (41).
