Sale City

Admitted to the North Gippsland Football League in 1970, the Bulldogs reached their first senior grade grand final seven years later, but went down to Nambrok by 13 points. Amends were quickly made, however, as Sale City promptly won the next two senior grade flags, overcoming Nambrok both times by margins of 27 points in 1978 and 4 points a year later.

Over the ensuing years there have been five more senior grade grand final appearances, all but one of which have resulted in victories. The club reached its nadir in March 2003 when it went into recess, having won just one game for the 2002 season while sacking its coach midway through the year. While still fielding junior football and senior netball sides in 2003, the club resurrected itself through an increase in committee members and recruiting and returned to the North Gippsland league for 2004.

The Bulldogs' most recent grand final triumph came in 2017 at the expense of Yarram, where they defeated the Demons 14.16 (100) to 5.11 (41). A year later, their season was brought to an end at the first semi final stage by Churchill. Besides their half a dozen senior grade flags, the Bulldogs have won a total of eight premierships at reserve grade level and five in the under eighteens.
