Sunbury Kangaroos

Formed in 1987, and admitted to the RDFL the same year, Sunbury Kangaroos struggled initially but have recently come in to their own. The seniors won their first flag in 2012 and made the preliminary final the following year. After dropping to fifth in 2014 they missed the finals in both 2015 and 2016 although they continued to perform competitively. The 2017 season brought a return to the finals fray but it proved to be fleeting as the 'Roos fell at the first hurdle against Diggers Rest. A year later they dropped to eighth place on the twelve team premiership ladder. Somewhat unusually, the club's nickname of Kangaroos is shared by another RDFL club, Broadford.
