In their debut season of 1985 the Kangaroos fielded teams in the Western Australian Amateur Football League’s J and L divisions. From these humble beginnings, the club has grown to the point where it boasts one of the largest supporter bases in the league, while on the field it has progressed steadily through the grades, ultimately reaching A grade. In 2004 the ‘Roos played off in the A Grade grand final, but lost to North Beach. Relegation soon followed, but this was arguably only because so many of the club’s better players either moved elsewhere or retired. Unfortunately, the club was unable adequately to cover these losses and it has since succumbed to relegation again, from B grade to C black grade, where in 2009 the seniors won 6 and drew 1 of their 16 minor round games to finish seventh of nine teams.
