Werrimull

In 1926, Werrimull was a founder member of the Millewa Football League and immediately proceeded to claim the competition’s first four premierships in succession. Today, the club’s tally of nineteen senior grade flags is bettered only by Bambill Saints, with twenty-six. The Magpies’ most recent premiership was won in 2013 after an 18.16 (124) to 13.8 (86) grand final defeat of the Saints. More recently, fortunes have been mixed, although some promise was shown in both 2016 and 2017 when they contested the finals, and even more particularly in 2018 when they lost a hard fought grand final clash with Nangiloc by 15 points. A fortnight earlier when the same two sides had faced one another the Magpies had squandered numerous scoring opportunities in amassing a total of 7.23 (65), which was 5 points shy of Nangiloc, who troubled the scorers ten times fewer in registering 10.10 (70)..
