West Footscray

West Footscray joined the Footscray District Football League, precursor of today’s Western Region Football League, in 1932, which was only the competition’s second season. The club was quick to assert itself, and won back to back flags in 1934 and 1935. To date the Roosters have enjoyed senior grade premiership success seven times, five in Division One and two in Division Two. Their most recent premiership came in Division Two in 2007 via an 18.16 (124) to 7.16 (58) grand final trouncing of Sunshine Heights. In 2014 and 2015 they lost consecutive Division Two grand finals to Parkside and Wyndhamvale. Since then their fortunes have slumped and they  succumbed to consecutive wooden spoons in 2016 and 2017 before improving marginally in 2018 when they finished seventh of eight teams..
