Gordon

In 1979, Gordon had been a founder member of the CHFL, having spent the preceding six decades in a variety of local competitions. The club won a number of senior grade premierships during this time, with perhaps the most noteworthy coming in 1931 in the Dunnstown Football Association when Yendon was beaten by a goal in a replayed grand final.

The Eagles’ first Central Highlands Football League premiership came in 1988 when, after topping the ladder, they recovered from a second semi final loss against Bungaree to defeat Dunnstown in the preliminary final before gaining revenge against the Demons in the grand final. More recently, they made the grand final in 2015, but lost to Springbank by 33 points. The Eagles have generally performed quite strongly in recent seasons. In 2022, they broke a 24-year premiership drought with a convincing 65-point grand final defeat of Springbank, before going back-to-back in 2023 against the same opponent, comfortably defeating Springbank once more by 57 points.
