Moyston Willaura
The Pumas commenced in the Mininera and District Football League in 2000 and took a while to find their feet. However, after qualifying for the finals in 2009, for a fourth place finish, improvement was slow but steady. Over the next three seasons they finished fourth, third and fourth. Then in 2013 the Pumas made it through to a grand final clash with Wickliffe Lake Bolac, losing by 33 points, but whetting the appetite for still more improvement.
The 2014 season saw that improvement crystallise with a fine home and away campaign which yielded 15 wins from 16 games, a return which not surprisingly earned pole position heading into the finals. A surprise second semi final loss to Tatyoon followed but the Pumas regrouped and recharged their batteries before earning another crack at the Hawks thanks to a 10.18 (78) to 9.13 (67) preliminary final defeat of Hawkesdale Macarthur. The only surprise about the grand final was that it proved to be so one-sided with the Pumas emphasising their status as the competition's leading side with a comprehensive 48 point triumph, 11.19 (85) to 4.13 (37).
In 2015 Moston Willaura again qualified for the finals but bowed out of the flag race at the first hurdle against Glenthompson Dunkeld. Still more disappointment was to follow as in 2016 they dropped to seventh. This was followed by a much more fruitful 2017 season which produced comfortable finals qualification for an ultimate finishing position of third. The see-sawing nature of the Puma's fortunes continued in 2018 when they finished one place adrift of finals qualification.
