Russells Creek
The Warrnambool and District Football League was established in 1946, and Russells Creek won the inaugural premiership, downing South Warrnambool Juniors in a hotly contested grand final by 4 points. A year later they repeated the achievement, this time at the expense of West End by a 10 point margin. Over the years the Kangaroos have enjoyed regular success, capturing a league record total of eleven senior grade premierships. In both 1957 and 1974 the club’s senior grade side went through the entire season undefeated, a feat that only Northern Districts in 1994 have emulated.
Since claiming their most recent premiership in 2005 the Kangas have endured some hard times, including slumping to wooden spoons in 2014 and 2016, but there has also been sporadic finals involvement. The 2017 season provided some indications that improved fortunes might be imminent as the 'Roos climbed up the ladder to eighth place out of eleven clubs but they failed to build on this during a 2018 season which produced a mere 4 wins from 16 games and saw the 'Roos drop down the ladder to ninth.
