Match Report

A scintillating third quarter burst of 11 goals to one at Bellerive Oval in Hobart has allowed Sydney to maintain its perfect start to the season and condemned North Melbourne to the dangerous territory of the lower reaches of the ladder. The third quarter aside, the Kangaroos matched the Swans for the remainder of the game, outscoring Sydney in each of the other three terms.

But the Swans' third quarter onslaught allowed them to coast to a 39-point win and take a spot near the top of the ladder as one of five sides to remain near the top of the ladder with a 3-0 record. North on the other hand, despite being competitive it most times against Collingwood, Geelong and the Swans is now one of four teams to have started the season 0 and 3.

Sydney's smaller forwards inflicted much of the damage, with the evergreen Jude Bolton kicking four goals, and Ben McGlynn and Daniel Hannebery kicking three each. Best on ground was Sydney's Jarrad McVeigh, who had 28 touches and kicked two goals. For North, captain Andrew Swallow continued his fine form in the midfield, with Wells and Cunnington also prominent.

North will be looking to register its first win when it takes on Brisbane at Docklands in round four, while Sydney will meet the also-undefeated Geelong on Friday night in what should be an enthralling affair.
