Match Report
Greater Western Sydney continued to tire as they were thumped again, narrowly avoiding a fourth 100-point plus margin for the season. Fremantle’s 95-point win ensured GWS’ last five weeks was the highest total deficit in VFL/AFL history. It could have been far more ugly than the final margin as Fremantle kicked terribly for goal, particularly during the second quarter where they kicked 2.13. Sides that are coached under Ross Lyon don’t kick big scores regularly, but on this Sunday evening they managed to rack up 18 goals 24 behinds. Dockers captain Matthewe Pavlich’s golden run carried on as he kicked another seven goals to push his way towards a possible Coleman Medal. He is now just six behind the leader, Lance Franklin, with the Hawk sidelined for the next couple of weeks due to injury. Most importantly for Fremantle, it kept their finals chances alive. The Dockers sat in ninth after 17 rounds and just one game outside the eight.

COACHES COMMENTS
Ross Lyon (Frem): They (GWS) are a really young team and you fight that human nature of complacency. We were probably just a bit sloppy defensively in the third and then just our ability to take some opportunities in front of goals would have rounded it off nicely.
Kevin Sheedy (GWS): We took a gamble and a risk by playing seven boys who have played three or less games. (But) I think they kicked four of our five goals, the boys who had just come into the side.
