Match Report
Richmond recorded their best win of the season so far when they downed a disappointing Sydney at the MCG. The Tigers backed up their solid performance against Port Adelaide by racing out of the blocks with a five-goal to none first quarter. Sydney fought back and got within 14 points at three-quarter time after a Josh Kennedy goal post-siren reduced the margin. But a five-goal to two final term proved to be enough for the Tigers to record their third win of the season. After losing tight games to quality sides Geelong and West Coast earlier in the season, this was a much-needed win for the Tigers against tough opposition. The Swans were without dual-Brownlow Medalist Adam Goodes and he was sorely missed as their MCG hoodoo continued. The loss to the Tigers meant Sydney had won just one game at the home of football in 16 attempts, along with one draw. Swans coach John Longmire didn’t know why his side struggled at the venue when asked about it post-match.

COACHES COMMENTS
Damien Hardwick (Rich): Our players have shown that thought the course of this year. They'll get headed at stages, but they'll certainly dig deep. It was really pleasing to see that when they were challenged they responded and got the game back on our terms.
John Longmire (Syd): It was the complete opposite of the way that we wanted to play, which was obviously the most disappointing part of the game. That first quarter and the uncontested possession difference made it really tough to catch up from there.
