Son of former West Perth legend Brian Foley, Dan Foley inherited a fair amount of his dad’s talent. A naturally gifted, imposing centre half forward, he was recruited by West Perth from Marist College. From 1980 to 1982 and between 1986 and 1988 he played a total of 58 WAFL games and booted 92 goals for the Falcons. He spent the interim period at Richmond where, because of injury problems, he was restricted to 13 appearances and nine goals over three seasons. On his return to West Perth he produced the best form of his life, winning the club’s 1986 fairest and best award and topping the goal kicking the same year with 46 goals.
