Les Bamblett was a promising junior who won the 1982 Morrish Medal while playing for Melbourne under 19s. He made his senior debut for the Demons the following year, the first of an eventual 11 appearances for the season. Despite impressing on occasion he was not retained and the 1984 season saw him at Footscray. A rover and small forward, he enjoyed a particularly good year in 1985 when his tally of 51 goals for the Dogs was bettered only by Simon Beasley, who bagged 105. Bamblett remained with Footscray until 1988, but in his last three seasons he was beset by a series of injuries and appeared only sporadically for the seniors. When he retired, he had played 37 games for the Bulldogs, and kicked 59 goals.
