While with Fitzroy Mark Trewella became the only player ever to win the club’s reserves best and fairest award three times. He also helped the twos to a flag in 1989. As far as his senior career was concerned, he played 23 games and scored four goals from 1987 to 1990.

A utility, Trewella was strong overhead with good all round skills. He joined Richmond in 1991, but found it hard to break into the seniors, playing just four games and kicking four goals for the year. After being de-listed by the Tigers he moved to VFA side Prahran for whom he made 41 senior appearances in 1992-3, following which he added 37 games for Box Hill in 1994-5. His last port of call was Mitcham of the Eastern Football League where he played in 1996.
