Andrew Underwood commenced with Sturt’s seniors in 1985, having won two Mail Medals for competition best and fairest with Great Southern Football League club Victor Harbor, and having worked his way up from the colts with the Blues. A strongly built utility, he performed well with Sturt as a result of which he was drafted by Essendon. In 1989-90 he played 12 games for the Bombers and scored five goals. His next port of call was Richmond where he again made 12 senior appearances, albeit in just one season, kicking four goals. He then saw out his career back at Sturt, bringing his final tally of SANFL games with that club to 111 and the number of goals scored to 40.
