Harold Lambert was the brother of another fine Essendon player in Chris Lambert. His career was interrupted by war service but he still managed to play in three premiership teams. He joined Essendon from La Mascotte and in 1940 and 1941 played mainly as a centreman. After returning from military service he was transformed into a formidable, hard tackling half back flanker who was rarely beaten. He left the Dons after 1951 season, by which time he had accrued 99 VFL games and kicked 2 goals. He spent the 1952 season, aged thirty, playing for Ballarat Football League club Redan.
