Recruited from Echuca, Kevin O’Neill gave Richmond styerling service, mainly as a pack pocket, in 209 VFL games between 1930 and 1941. For much of that time he formed part of a famous last line of defence along with Martin Bolger and Maurie Sheahan, popularly referred to as ‘The Three Musketeers’. Pacy and physically strong he was renowned for his consistency, rarely playing a bad game. After serving in the RAAF O’Neill briefly returned to the Tigers as coach of the seconds in 1944.
