Winner of the 1970 Gardiner Medal as the best and fairest player in the VFL reserves competition, Michael Redenbach also played 59 senior games and kicked 40 goals for North Melbourne from 1967 to 1973. In 1974 he crossed to Perth as part of a swap deal which saw champion Demons rover Barry Cable moving in the opposite direction. Most commonly deployed across half forward, he failed fully to ignite while in Western Australia, although his 18 appearances over two seasons (in which he booted 13 goals) did include the 1974 WANFL grand final, in which Perth succumbed to East Fremantle.
