Reg Hede was a pacy, determined and quite versatile footballer who arrived at Richmond from the club’s junior side, Beverley. He commenced his VFL career in 1914 and went on to play 85 games and kick one goal over the course of a seven and a half season career. He was on a wing when Richmond lost to Collingwood in the 1919 flag decider and in a back pocket, and one of the best players afield, when the tables were turned on the Magpies a year later. Midway through the 1921 season he crossed to Camberwell.
