Fitzroy's Tommy Williams was a highly capable all round footballer who particularly excelled when playing as a half back flanker, in which position he played three interstate matches for the VFL. He commenced his VFL career with the Roys in 1928 and went on to spend 10 years at the club, playing a total of 136 games and kicking 41 goals.
