Neil Hein used to travel back and forth from his farm near Murray Bridge twice every week in order to play for Norwood when he commenced his career in 1981. A capable ruckman, who liked to kick a goal while resting up forward, he starred in the Redlegs' 1984 grand final victory over Port Adelaide after starting the game on the interchange bench. In 1987 and 1988 he played 15 VFL games for Brisbane before returning for one last season with Norwood, taking his final tally of SANFL appearances to 140.
