After a highly promising start to his AFL career with Richmond, which included winning the 1990 best first year player award and topping the club’s goal kicking list the same year, Stephen Ryan was beset by injury problems which led to a loss of form. He commenced his career as a forward before moving out to the wing. His four season career saw him make 43 senior appearances and score 39 goals. He also played 40 times for the reserves.
