One of the finest - and smallest - wingmen of his time, Wally Chalmers occupied that position in Essendon’s back to back grand final wins over Collingwood in 1911 and South Melbourne in 1912. In the South game he was one of the best players afield. Tenacious and clever, from 1911 to 1915 and then in 1918 he played 73 VFL games for the Same Old and scored 11 goals.
