After debuting in Richmond’s reserves in 1942 Arthur Mooney took his senior bows the following season. A fast, elusive half forward flanker with a keen goal sense, he topped the Tigers’ goal kicking list in 1946 with 49 majors. Over the course of his six season senior VFL career he played 66 games and scored 94 goals. He also played 36 games for the reserves, and won a best and fairest award at that level in 1943. He was a member of Richmond’s 1944 losing grand final team against Fitzroy. After leaving the VFL scene he spent three seasons with Morwell, whom he helped to a premiership in 1950.
