Full back Peter Boyne played 60 VFL games for Collingwood between 1964 and 1968 during which time he troubled the scorers to the extent of a single behind. Normally the epitome of reliability, he was somewhat below his best in the Magpies’ 1966 grand final loss to St Kilda, allowing his direct opponent Kevin ‘Cowboy’ Neale to snare five majors. In 1968, aged 24, Peter Boyne was forced to give the game away after sustaining a serious knee injury.
