Graham Burgin was a tough, rugged half back with plenty of pace who never gave his direct opponent time to breathe. He made his league debut with Richmond in 1965 but he did not become a regular senior player for another couple of years. He played on a half back flank in the Tigers’ 1967 premiership-winning team against Geelong, while two seasons later he was at centre half back, and one of the best players afield, as Richmond accounted for the grand final challenge of Carlton. Earlier, he had been a member of the Tigers’ 1966 reserves flag win.

From 1965 to 1972 he played 60 VFL games without registering a goal. He would have made quite a few more appearances had he not been so susceptible to injury. After leaving Richmond he played for QAFL side Kedron in 1975 and Albury of the Ovens and Murray Football League the following year, following which he retired.
