Kneel before Neale! — 2020 Brownlow Medal
Brisbane's Lachie Neale was the runaway winner of the 2020 Brownlow Medal, polling 31 votes to finish 10 clear of the runner-up, Port Adelaide's Travis Boak. For much of the second half of this unusual AFL season, Neale was the strong favourite to take out the prestigious award, and as the count unfolded, the pundits predictions were set in stone. Neale, who came third in the 2019 Brownlow Medal count, was awarded three votes for best-on-ground, in 10 matches, a remarkable achievement in a 17-game season.
Melbourne's improved 2020 season was reflected by the Demons having two players — Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver — finish in the top 10 votegetters. Geelong emulated that feat through Patrick Dangerfield, who finished equal fifth in the count with 15 votes, and Cam Guthrie, who polled 14 votes.

Fremantle's Caleb Serong has taken out the 2020 AFL Rising Star award, pipping Gold Coast's Noah Anderson by nine votes. Serong becomes the third Docker to win the award, following Paul Hasleby, who took out the honours in 2000, and Rhys Palmer, the winner in 2008.
Two Gold Coast players finished in the top five, with Anderson joined in the group by Izak Rankine. Had Matt Rowell not sustained a dislocated shoulder in his fifth match, the Suns may well have had three players in the top five.
