AustralianFootball.com Celebrating the history of the great Australian game
The Blues’ two A2 Grade (precursor of Division Two) flags were attained at the expense of Scotch Old Collegians in 1979 and Woodville South eight years later. The club was forced to go into mothballs after the 1994 season when the school temporarily switched its focus away from contact sports such as football. Since reforming in 1997, however, the Blues have gone from strength to strength, and their 13.14 (92) to 12.9 (81) victory over Westminster Old Scholars in the 2009 Division Five grand final gave them their fourth senior grade premiership in thirteen years.
Following their 2009 premiership the Blues remained in Division Four until 2014 when they slumped to the wooden spoon, and with it relegation back to Division Five where they remained until relegated to Division Six in 2016. Some consolation for this indignity was afforded by the reserves who went top in Division Five courtesy of a 16.9 (105) to 2.4 (16) grand final thrashing of Lockleys. The 2017 season brought recovery of the best sort imaginable as the Blues sustained just 3 losses all year in sweeping to the Division Six premiership. They continued their improvement over the course of a 2018 campaign which culminated in finals football, and ultimately saw them finish third.
