Walkerville

Walkerville initially competed in the South Australian Amateur Football League between 1936 and 1979 before spending eleven seasons in the South Australian Football Association. Since resuming in the SAAFL in 1990 the club’s senior grade side has competed successfully in Divisions Three and Four as well as spending some time in Division Two. However, it was during the club’s first stint in the amateurs that it enjoyed its greatest successes, capturing A1 (precursor of Division One) flags in 1950 at the expense of Exeter and 1953 against Adelaide University. Prior to commencing in the SAAFL for the first time Walkerville was a member of the North Adelaide District Football Association in which it enjoyed premiership success three times during the early 1920s.

After winning the Division Three flag in 2009 the Cats spent the ensuing five seasons competing, with mixed success, in Division Two, but the 2015 season saw them finish second from last and so succumb to relegation back to Division Three. They struggled somewhat in 2016 but still managed to avoid a second successive relegation, winning 5 out of 18 games to finish eighth on the ten team premiership ladder. The 2017 season brought another eighth place finish, albeit that this was managed with 2 more wins than in 2016, but the 2018 season brought the immense disappointment of relegation as the Cats only managed 4 wins from 18 matches to finish second from last.
