Ballajura

Ballajura’s seniors they came close to winning their first flag in 2008 when they lost their D Grade West Australian Amateur football league grand final clash with Kingsway by 32 points. Prior to commencing in the WAAFL in 2002 the Royals competed in the Sunday Football League. The club’s reserves won consecutive WAAFL D Grade premierships in 2005-6. The seniors finally broke through to claim their first premiership in C3 Grade in 2015. Opposed in the grand final by Swan View the Royals won at a canter by 72 points, 13.15 (93) to 2.9 (21). They then achieved a second successive promotion in 2016 when they reached the C2 Grade grand final although on this occasion they lost by 51 points to Thornlie. In 2017 they performed well in C1 during the home and away rounds to qualify for the finals in second place and they got their finals campaign off to a bright start with a 13.4 (82) to 8.10 (58) qual;ifying final defeat of Thornlie. However, after that it all went wrong and losses in successive weeks to Kingsley and Thornlie saw them drop out of the premiership and promotion races and ultimately finish third. A year later amends were memorably made as the side topped the ladder after the home and away rounds before cruising to the premiership with emphatic wins over Bassendean in the second semi final and Willetton in the flag decider, both by an identical 53 point margin.

The 2019 season saw the Royals competing in B Grade and more than holding their own, winning eight of their 18 fixtures to finish a creditable sixth.
