In 1959 the Eagles were founder members of the Upper Great Southern Football League and, after struggling for many years, have over the past three decades or so firmly established themselves as one of the competition’s pre-eminent forces. Boddington’s first senior grade grand final triumph in 1989 was a prelude to a hat trick of such successes, achieved at the expense of Wickepin by 62 points, Lake Grace by 59 points, and Dumbleyung by 37 points. The Eagles also played off in the 1992 and 1993 grand finals but Kukerin Dumbleyung proved too strong in both years.

The 1995 season saw the Eagles claim their fourth senior grade flag courtesy of a 14.16 (100) to 11.9 (75) grand final defeat of Wagin. Their next grand final appearance in 1998 resulted in an acutely embarrassing 104 point defeat at the hands of Williams and this was followed in 2002 by an 11.10 (76) to 7.7 (49) grand final victory over Kukerin Dumbleyung. Boddington's sixth and most recent flag did not arrive until 2012 when they accounted for Williams in the grand final by 8 points, 8.11 (59) to 7.9 (51). The Eagles have continued to perform strongly over the past few seasons contesting the finals every year but one and getting as far as the grand final in 2013 when they lost by 16 points to Williams. Five years later they again qualified for the decisive match of the year and on this occasion the champagne flowed following a hard fought 13.13 (91) to 12.11 (83) defeat of Katanning Wanderers. The following season brought back to back premiership success as the Eagles accounted for the grand final challenge of Narrogin by 20 points, 14.14 (98) to 11.12 (78).

In 2020 the UGSFL operated on a reduced scale basis because of the coronavirus pandemic. Boddington had a disappointing year, missing the finals for the first time in over a decade and ultimately finishing fifth.
