The Gold Coast-based Blues were a force in the AFL South Queensland Premier Division at the start of this century, claiming flags in 2001 and 2003. More recently, the club has competed in Division Two of the Queensland (Australian) Football Association in which they narrowly avoided the wooden spoon in 2017, winning five of their 18 matches to finish ninth (of 10). The next season brought considerable improvement as the Blues qualified for the finals and ultimately finished third, a result that was repeated in 2019. The 2020 season was conducted on a reduced scale basis because of the coronavirus pandemic. Competing in Division Two (South) the Blues came fourth of eight teams.
